Mr. Swabado was born third
of twelve children of Frank Glen and Elizabeth Grace Norris Swabado. He began his working career as a coal miner and a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, World War II. After his move to Houston William owned and administrated Graystone Manor Nursing Homes I and II and served twice as President of Texas Nursing Home Assoc. He owned two historical homes in his birth place prior to his donation of one to the historical society. Lifetime member of Houston Rodeo and Livestock Assoc., rancher and former grapefruit grower in south Texas. Survived by his loving family, children and spouses, William R. and Betty Swabado, Carol and Robert D. Wynn, Danny and Karey Swabado, Debbie and Mike Black; sisters, Thelma Rice, Lynn Mayers and Nancy Evans; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Interment followed the service with military honors to be accorded.
