Pearl and Thomas were parents of five children, Charles C, Nellie (Cowley) Montgomery , Joe, Mary Lucille (Cowley) Matthews and Edward Cowley.

Mrs. Pearl Cowley, widow of Thomas Cowley of Pittsboro, died early Tuesday morning from a heart attack she suffered on Monday.
Mrs. Cowley was formerly Miss Pearl Thornbrough. She was 79 years of age and had lived in the Pittsboro community all her life. She was a member of the 1901 graduating class, the second class to graduate from the Pittsboro High School.
Mrs. Cowley was an executive member of the Womens Fellowship of the Christian Church, and an active member of the church. She was also a member of the Rebekah lodge, Eastern Star Order and Pittsboro Study Club.
Survivors are three sons, Joseph and Charles of Pittsboro; and Edward of West Palm Beach, Fla., two daughters, Nellie Montgomery of Pittsboro and Lucille Matthews of Indianapolis, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One daughter, Geneva, died in infancy. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Knetzer, Pittsboro, and Bertha Hoffman of Marion and one brother, Everett Thornbrough of New Albany.
Funeral services will be this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Pittsboro Christian Church in charge of the Rev. James I. Shockley. Burial will be in the Lizton cemetery.
