Obituary: Suzy Loraine McGrew Gregory, age 30, of Baytown, Texas, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011, at a Houston hospital. She was born on October 17, 1980, in Houston, Texas, to Malcolm and Mary McGrew. Suzy was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and teacher at Travis Elementary since 2004. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in May of 1999, Murray State University, Murray, Kentucky, in December of 2002, and earned her Masters of Education in Administration from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, in August of 2009. Suzy was married to John Otha Gregory on July 17, 2004. Together they had two beautiful children, Morgan, age two and a half, and Bear, who is one week old.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Millie Krizak, of Baytown and her grandfather, George Vinson McGrew, of Senath, Missouri.
Suzy enjoyed life to the fullest and her family, friends, biking, camping, kayaking, teaching, her Theta Gamma sorority sisters, her bunco friends, her church family and her college friends. She embraced motherhood with sheer and utter delight. Suzy was the family's designated navigator and cruise director for road trips and events.
She is survived by her husband, John Otha Gregory and their children, Morgan and Bear, of Baytown; mother, Mary McGrew, of Baytown; father, Malcolm McGrew, of Senath, Missouri; only brother and his wife, Fred and Courtney McGrew and niece and nephew, Grace and David, of Kingwood; grandmother, Bernice McGrew, of Jonesboro, Arkansas; father and mother-in-law, John and Dorothy Weems; brother and sister-in-law, Shannon and Ludie Hedger and niece, Phoebe, of Baytown; brother-in-law, William Wadkins and nieces, Sara and Peyton, of Hemphill, Texas; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Suzy greatly impacted the lives of everyone who knew her and will be deeply and sorely missed by family and friends.
