"SHOOK - Katherine Caroline Shook, widow of the late John W. Shook died at her home in Spring Mills, Monday night about 12 o'clock, from kidney trouble, after an illness of six weeks, aged 60 years, 3 months and 25 days. Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel [actually Daniel] Luse, and was born at Farmers Mills, May 6, 1854. Her husband died about 10 years ago. One brother, Samuel Luse [actually Daniel F.], of Centre Hall, and three half-brothers, Perry, of Centre Hall; Malcolm, of Altoona; and Lloyd, of Coburn, still survive. The funeral was held this morning at 9:30 o'clock from the Lutheran church at Penn Hall, of which deceased was a consistent member, by Rev. Geesey. Internment was made in the Heckman cemetery."
