He graduated from Tower-Soudan High School, Tower, Minnesota in 1943.
He joined the Navy in high school at the age of 18 before graduation and was initially stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base in Chicago for basic training. He was subsequently stationed at Anacostia Naval Air Station in Washington, D.C. where he served during World War II. Milton's father received Milton's high school diploma during the 1943 Tower graduation ceremony while Milton was in the Navy.

After military service, he became an apprentice printer in Madison Wisconsin at University Printing. In 1959 he became the foreman at Findlay Printing & Supply Company in Findlay, Ohio. In 1968 he and his family relocated to the Dayton, Ohio area where he took the position as a typographer at Dayton Typographic Services. In 1979 he returned to Minnesota and began Luoma Printing, Inc. in Eagan, Minnesota. He and his wife later retired to Tower, Minnesota and then later moved to Summerdale, Alabama on July 10, 2000.

He was always active in his church having served as usher and Bible reader, and at the time of his death he was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Summerdale, Alabama. In Tower, Minnesota he was on the school board and in Alabama he was on the city planning commission.


Cremated but ashes to be buried in Lake View Cemetery in Tower, Minnesota.
