Maurice "Jack" Moffett, 94, of Kenesaw, NE died Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the Grand Island Veterans Hospital.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. Jacquie Samway will officiate and burial will be at the Shelton Cemetery. Military rites at the grave will be provided by the Shelton American Legion Post # 297 and the Nebraska National Guard Military Honors Team. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral Services of Kearney is in charge of arrangements.

He was born November 19, 1918 to James and Matie (Ginther) Moffett at their home at Buckeye Valley North of Gibbon. He attended country school then graduated from Gibbon High School in 1936.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army from 1941 – 1945 where he was stationed in the Pacific Theatre.

On February 21, 1947 he married Audrey Lucile Drage. They lived their entire lives in the Gibbon, Shelton areas. He farmed then worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 30 years before retiring in 1983.

He was a member of the Railroad Old Timers Club. He loved to garden, enjoyed baseball and Husker Football and especially loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, David and his wife Diane Moffett of Kearney, Tooty and her husband Gene Hallberg of Seward, NE; grandchildren Marc Moffett, Mindy Donohue, Jeff Hallberg, Jim Hallberg, Gina Laible, and Jason Loschen; 20 great grandchildren; sisters, Sue Moffett of Kearney and Dot Allen of California and brother Carl Moffett of Gibbon.

He is preceded in death by his wife in 2005; daughter Kathleen Loschen in 2004, son-in-law Jim Loschen in 2007, 9 sisters and 7 brothers.
