Ethel Lera (Deed) Skau, 84, formerly of Esko, Minn., died Friday, July 1, 2011, at her home in Duluth, Minn., after battling Alzheimer's disease. Ethel was born on March 2, 1927, in Grand Rapids, Minn., the youngest child of George and Nora Ella Burt. She married Lee Skau on Nov. 8, 1952, and they lived in Esko for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee, on July 3, 1999; her parents; brothers, Roy, Donald, George Jr., and John; and her sister, Alice Smith.
She is survived by her daughters, Laurie Skau of Minneapolis, Minn., Linda Mohn (Kraig) Myrick of Arlington, Wash., and Jane (Dick) Meyer of Duluth; granddaughters, Stephanie (Chris) Rathburn of Lincoln, Neb., Kate (Dan) Newman of Lynnwood, Wash., and Alison Meyer of Duluth; and two great-grandchildren, Gretchen and Thor Rathburn.
Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, July 5, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service in Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, 218-727-3555.
