Leon Douglas "Doc" Herring, age 80, of Berkeley Springs, WV, died on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at his home.

Born January 31, 1933 in Nokesville, VA, he was the son of the late George Wesley and Ella Bernett Bowman Herring.

He was of the Evangelical United Brethren faith. He graduated from public schools in Nokesville, VA. Doc had worked as a parts manager with the City of Fairfax, VA. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife of 43 ½ years, Margaret Ann Solomon Herring, at home, two sons, David Allen Herring of Linden, VA and Andrew Scott Herring of Buckhannon, WV, one daughter, Tina Elizabeth Moss of Buckhannon, WV, one brother, Lynn Hastings Herring of Fairfax, VA, five grandchildren, Julia Diane Constantopoulous of Fredericksburg, VA, Josiah David Herring and Kendall Marie Herring, both of Linden, VA, Ella Paige Moss and John Liam Moss, both of Buckhannon, WV and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George Wesley Herring, Jr. and Geraldin Herring.

The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. Friday at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, WV. Service and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The National Kidney Foundation, 3109 Forbes Avenue, Suite 101, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
