William Earl Boston, on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. Bill was born September 21, 1931 the sixth of nine children to Thomas Rae and Ethel V. (Hicks) Boston in Alma.

Bill received his primary education and graduated from Alma Public School with class of 1948 at 16 years of age. Following graduation, Bill worked for Cudahay Packing Company, Alma, Nebraska from 1948 to 1950. In May 1950, Bill moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa and worked for Iowa Manufacturing in assembly for rock crushers until he was inducted into the United States Army.

On April 14, 1952, Bill was inducted into the United States Army. He was stationed in Alaska and served his country during the Korean War. Bill was Honorably Discharged on April 14, 1954.

Bill was united in marriage to Beverly Ann Johnson in Orleans, Nebraska in 1954 and to this union three boys were born: Lief, John and Michael. The family made their home in Alma, Nebraska where Bill worked for Swanson Produce, Oxford, Nebraska and Alma Block and Lumber, Alma, Nebraska making cement blocks.

Bill worked as a lineman, repairman and installer for the General Telephone Company for over 34 years.

Bill served as the Mayor of Alma, Nebraska for 8.5 years, also serving on the Alma (NE.) City Council for over 30 years combined. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Alma, Nebraska, the Fay Cady American Legion Post # 118, Alma, Nebraska, for over 48 years, serving as the Commander for the last couple years and was a Board Member of the Alma (NE.) Senior Center.

Bill enjoyed hunting deer, turkey and pheasant. He enjoyed gardening, even wanting to plant a garden this year.

Bill was preceded in death by: parents; brothers: Robert Boston, Cecil Boston and his wife Mary, and Thomas Boston; sisters: Vera Woodward and her husband, Russell and Isabelle Petersen and her husband Lyle; sisters-in-law: Charlene (Bach) Boston, Gale Boston and Vicki Boston.

Bill survivors are: wife, Beverly Boston of Alma, Nebraska; sons: Lief Boston and his wife, Lisa of Morganton, North Carolina, John Boston and his wife, Clarice of Odessa, Nebraska and Mike Boston and his wife, Lynne of Hastings, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers: Dell Boston and his wife, Marion of Maridian, Idaho, Reid Boston and his wife, Marie of Alma, Nebraska and Ronald Boston and his wife, Janice of Alma, Nebraska; sisters-in-law: Irene Boston of Holdrege, Nebraska and Joyce Boston of Loveland, Colorado and a hoost of relatives and friends.

Interment was in Alma Cemetery, Alma, Nebraska, with Military Honors provided by the Fay Cady American Legion Post #118 of Alma in conjunction with the U.S. Army National Guard Military Honors Team.
