(Lanett) Funeral services for one of Chambers County's oldest residents will be held Friday at 4 p.m. EDT.
Mrs. Ida McEachern, 102-year old resident of Lanett, died October 20 at Traylor's Nursing Home in Lafayette. Mrs. McEachern was born October 27, 1873, in Chambers County. She would have been 103 next Wednesday. "Miss Ida" was the oldest member of the Lanett First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held from the First Baptist Church Friday at 4 p.m. EDT, with interment in Oakwood Cemetery in Lanett. Rev. Gene Webb will officiate, with Chandler Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include seven daughters, Mrs. Odessa Barnes, Mrs. Keren Worthy, Mrs. Theresa Lankford, all of Lanett, Mrs. Eunice Jordan, Birmingham, Mrs. Myrtis Anderson, Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Clara Owens, Lubbock, Tex.; a son, H. P. McEachern, Anniston, and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary Ida Still McEachern was born at Penton, AL, on the 27th day of October, 1873. Except for 27 years of her life, she has lived in Chambers County. Her father was J. H. (Sampy) Still and her mother was Mrs. Antoinett DeLoach Still. Her grandfather homesteaded the land where she and her father was born. The home is still there.
She joined the Baptist Church in August of her 17th year and was baptized into the fellowship of Rock Spring Church near LaFayette. Presently she is the oldest member of the First Baptist Church in Lanett, AL.
Her children are, Mrs. Odessa Barnes, Lanett, Mrs. Etta Jordan, Cragford, Mrs. Eunice Jordan, Sumiton, Mr. Charles McEachern, Sarasota, FL, Mr. Pearson McEachern, Anniston, Mrs. Myrtis Anderson, Jacksonville, FL, Mrs. Clara Owen, Lubbock, TX, Mrs. Keren Worthy and Mrs. Theresa Lankford of Lanett. A number of grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
