Col. Welch received a dispatch from Dallas, Texas, yesterday, saying that Mrs. Mattie Gano, wife of Gen. R. M. Gano, died at 7:40 of dengue. She was the oldest of the daughters of the late Dr. Welch and was raised at Crab Orchard. A husband and seven children survive her to grieve over the loss of a model wife and a devoted mother.
