Kim Irene McCarthy, 48, a resident of Ponte Vedra Beach since the early 1990s, died July 15.
Mrs. McCarthy worked for the Parkinson's Disease Brain Bank in Ponte Vedra Beach, and more recently in the mortgage industry. She was a long-time volunteer for cancer research. Family members include her daughter, Erin Peterson; son, Scott Peterson; mother, Barbara McCarthy; brother, Jim McCarthy; sister, Carolyn McCarthy; grandson, Mason McCarthy Barnes and three nephews, all of Ponte Vedra Beach. Her father, Herbert McCarthy, predeceased her.
Memorial services were held July 18 in the Christ Episcopal Church, followed by interment alongside her father in the Christ Church Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in her name to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, or The Melanoma Research Foundation.
