Lee Allen McDaniel age 93, 127 Pilgrim Drive Portland passed away Wednesday afternoon in the Jay County Hospital.He was born in Portland June 13, 1920 the son of John C. and Ethel C. (Metzner) McDaniel.He was married August 13, 1943 to Dortha Gene Smith and she died August 16, 1984.He later married Gwen McDaniel in 1986 and she survives.He was owner and operator of McDaniel and Sons Roofing in Portland.He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Lifetime member of Portland Lions Club, Portland Elks Lodge, Portland Country Club and Chamber of Commerce, Arts Place and First National Bank Board of Directors.
Surviving are his wife Gwen, two sons Thomas McDaniel of Crystal Bay, NV. and David McDaniel of Carmel, IN., one daughter Mrs. Jerry (Cindy) Merchant of Wilmington, Ohio. Step-son Ted Williamson of Barhard, Vermont and Eight grandchildren and Six great grandchildren
Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 A.M. in the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Strietelmeier presiding.Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery.Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 3:00 P.M. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home and Monday from 10:00 11:00 A.M. at the church Memorials can be made to the choice of the donor or Zion Lutheran Church.
