Memorial Services Here Friday For Avon M. Farrow, 71

Memorial services for Avon Marian (Rowell) Farrow, 71, Route 5, Ava, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Clinkingbeard Chapel with the Revs. Tom Johnson, O. L. Kresse and Paul Welch officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Owosso, Mich.

A resident of rural Ava since 1977, moving from Owosso, Mich., Mrs. Farrow died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at her home following a long illness.

Born Jan. 8, 1920, at Owosso, Mich., she was the daughter of Emma Louise Hayes and Charles Edward Rowell. She married Manford Darrell Farrow on Dec. 7, 1963, at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Theo and Lee Robert Hickey, at Corunna Mich. The Rev. Dixon of the Corunna Methodist Church performed the ceremony.

She graduated fron the Owosso High School in 1938. Avon attended the Central School grade school where her mother had attended before her. She was a fifth generation native of Shiawassee County, Mich. At the time Avon and Manford moved to Ava in 1977 she was secretary of the Shiawassee County Genealogy Society.

Mrs. Farrow was a Christian and attended Springcreek and Girdner churches.

She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 5993 in Ava, the Wasola Friendship Club and the Women's Auxiliary of the Squires Volunteer Fire Department. She also had several years of volunteer work with the Thornfield Head Start.

Avon had written the squires News for the Douglas County Herald the past several years. She really enjoyed the writing and the friends she made through the column.

Survivors include her husband, Manford, one sister, Theo C. Hickey and her husband, Leo Robert Hickey, of Corunna, Mich.; two brothers, Victor Rowell and wife, Beth of Spring Lake, Mich., and Lauren E. Rowell and wife, Sue, of Lena, Wisc.; 11 nieces and nephews; and 15 great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today (Thursday) at the funeral home.
