Athens, La ~ Memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Sunday, July 7, 2013 at 2:30PM at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Minden, La. Pastor James Crain officiating. Graveside services will be at Nishnabotna Cemetery in Manilla, Iowa.

Jim,71, born September 26, 1941 in Yorktown, Iowa to Detlef and Loena Bargenquast. He went home to be with the Lord on June 27, 2013 at Willis Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport, La. His strong faith and character carried him through many adversities in life. He loved gathering together with family.

Jim grew up in Defiance, Iowa. Graduated from Irwin High School, then joined the U.S. Army in 1960. He was a member of the 101st Airborne Division. "Barney" worked at various meat packing companies before managing Shreveport Packing Co. He returned to Louisiana in 1992 to work for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a Consumer Safety Inspector, until retirement in 2003.

Preceded in death by his parents and a infant daughter Donna Lee.

He is survived by his loving wife Karen Dianne Skinner Bargenquast and children: Lisa Huddleston Lazarus (Eddie) Keithville, La., Jimmy Lee Bargenquast, Jr. ( Renee) Shreveport, La., Janea Martell (Brian) Long Prairie, Mn., Sherilyn Gann (David) West Monroe, La., Amber Cullins (Chad) Simsboro, La., Shane Skinner (Tonya), Arcadia, La., Damian Skinner, Alicia Webb (Ron) , Arcadia, La., and Mother in Law, Dorothy Peavy, Arcadia, La. Grandpa Jim "Barney" has the love of 20 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren to cherish his memory.

Survived by his siblings Ray Bargenquast (Florence) Omaha, Ne., Beverly Olson, Walnut Creek, Ca., Mary Fickel, Urbandale, Ia., and his twin sister Joy Voight (Jack) Sun Lakes, Az. and their families. Special family friend to Mr. Barney, Ellen Ware, Shreveport, La. and numerous other family and friends.

Jim was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed serving wherever needed. He attended Freddie Frye's Sunday school class.

In his honor, memorials may be made to Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 1400 Homer Road, Minden, La. 71055.
