Was for Many Years Resident of Arcola.

Mrs. Carolina A. Kerr, widow of Richard L. Kerr, died at 7:10 o'clock Thursday morning at the residence of her son John L. Kerr, 462 West Leafland avenue. She was seventy-two years old last July. Her death was caused by a complication of diseases, with which she had suffered all winter.

Mrs. Kerr was born at Lima, N.Y., July 20, 1846. For many years she made her home in Arcola, coming here on Feb. 14 on a visit. She was twice married. She and John H. Carter, a Civil war veteran, were married Aug. 13, 1863. He died Nov. 3, 1867. Two children survive this union, T. H. Carter of Indianapolis and Mrs. Elizabeth C. Chandler of Arcola. On Oct. 16, 1879, she, Mrs. Carter and Richard L. Kerr were married. Mr. Kerr died Feb. 19, 1917. One child, John L. Kerr of Decatur survives this union. Mr. and Mrs. Kerr moved to Arcola over forty years ago.

ORGANIST 35 YEARS.

Mrs. Kerr was a life-long member of the Methodist church. For thirty-five years she was organist at the church in Arcola and a teacher in the Sunday school. She was also active as secretary of the Ladies' Aid society and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Beside her three children she leaves a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth C. Near, and one brother, Edward C. Hoyt, both of Schnectady, N.Y.

The body was removed to the Moran undertaking establishment and prepared for burial and will probably be taken to Arcola Saturday morning and the funeral held in the Methodist church there Sunday afternoon.
