Paul was born April 24, 1957 to Paul Sherman, Sr. and Elizabeth Anne McNeal Wilkerson. He was the grandson of Samson Edward, Sr. and Sylvester Summers McNeal and Les H. and Ruie Moore Wilkerson. He was married July 7, 2007 to Marie Michelle Barlow. He was survived by his wife, one step-son, Kyle Calhoun, and one sister Xavia Elizabeth Wilkerson. He was also survived by Ursula McNeal (aunt), Ed and Gail Rampy (uncle and aunt), Michael Randle (uncle), Larry Bryan (uncle), and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is also missed by his beloved fur-son Prince Tobias "Toby" Wilkerson.
Paul graduated from Murrah High School in Jackson, MS in 1975 and from Ole Miss in 1979. He then served in the United States Marine Corps for 12 years. He attained the rank of Captain. While in the Marines, he graduated from the FBI Academy. He had been employed by the Mississippi State Crime Lab for 13 years.
