Francis Merle Arteman, 76, of Matlachee Isles FL, died January 5, 2006, he was born in McLean County, IL, the son of the late William and Dixie Arteman. Merle was an M.P. in the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict, he owned a farm and raised corn and soy beans for most of his life he retired in 1997. He was a member of the Bellflower, IL Lion's Club and the American Legion, he moved to Cape Coral, FL, in 1997, he attended Pine Island United Methodist Church, Merle enjoyed fishing, woodworking, traveling and he loved his family.
Mr. Arteman is survived by his wife Norma Jean, his children Doris Jean Schluter of Hunnington Beach, CA, Patrica Jo Speer of Lake Elsinore, CA, Brenda Ellen Arteman of Champaign, IL, Brian David Arteman of Bellflower, IL, his stepdaughter Cathy Lynn Frisby of Justin, TX and 7 grandchildren.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be conducted in the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Sunday at 2 PM, the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 PM, the U.S. Army will conduct military honors.
Entombment will be in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery

A funeral service celebrating his life will be conducted in the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Sunday at 2 PM, the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 PM, the U.S. Army will conduct military honors.
