WILLIAM E. PAYTON DEAD
William E. Payton, 1003 West South avenue, died this morning at 9:45 o'clock. He was a former editor of the newspaper at Colony and former associate editor of the Iola Register.
Mr. Payton was a member of the Second Volunteer Infantry of the Spanish American War in which he served in the Philippines. He was a captain in the army during world War I. He was a charter member of the Harry Easter Camp of United Spanish War Veterans and a former commander of that group and a member of the Lowry-Funston V.F.W. Post 1980 and also a former commander of that post.
