Lillie Mae Carringer Edwards, 98, of the Sweetwater Community in Robbinsville, NC, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Med West Harris in Sylva, NC. A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late Pearly and Arizona Jenkins Carringer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John Claude Edwards, and her son, Steve Edwards. She is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Charles Edwards of Robbinsville, NC, Danny and Sandra Edwards of Wilmington, NC, and John and Rina Edwards of Pittsburgh, PA; her daughters and son in law, Barbara Greeson of Tunnel Hill, GA, and Janette and Jim Phillips of Robbinsville, NC; and her sister, Maude Atkinson of Henderson, WV. She has 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Townson-Smith Chapel. The Reverends Tony Hyatt, G.D. Phillips, and Mike Edwards will officiate. Burial will follow at Old Mother Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 pm Tuesday at the Chapel, prior to the service.
