OBITUARY: Ella (Chase) (Moore) Smith.

Carbondale Carbondalian
July 16, 1892
Page 5. Col. 5.

Died near Madison, Kansas, July 8, 1892. Mrs. Ella J. Smith, aged 34 years one month and 5 days. Her disease was consumption. She suffered a great deal: all was done for her that a kind husband could do; as she was among strangers but they were very kind, and done all that could be done for her. She was buried Sunday evening in Greenwood Cemetery, near Madison, Kansas. A large number of neighbors followed her to her last resting place. She gave her heart to the Savior, and said that she had left all in the hands of the Lord. She left four children to mourn her loss.

[By]G. L. Chase.

Many of our citizens will be surprised and pained to read the above, as she used to reside here and her husband, Robert Smith, has family and friends here. He was formerly in the employ of S. Marshall as a salesman. He has the sympathy of this community in his sad bereavement.

The above obituary was written by Ella's father Garnsey L. Chase.
