Note - Lyman's tombstone says he died July 1924, but death certificate says 8/12/1914 and obituary printed in 1914 says he died in 1915! Poor guy, no one could seem to get his dates right.

Obituary from The Mulvane News, August 20, 1914:

Lyman Albert Smith was born Aug 9, 1834 and died Aug 12, 1915 [sic], aged 77 years and 3 days. He was born in Scotland Co., Indiana [No Scotland County in Indiana. A Scot County and a city of Scotland in Greene County]. His father's name was Elisha Smith. He lived in Indiana with his father and the rest of the family until he was 22 years of age when the family removed to Iowa [abt 1859]. He lived in, and around Des Moines until about 20 years ago [abt 1894], when he came to Kansas. He had five children, two by his first marriage, and three by his second, three of which are still living, two in Iowa, and one here, Mrs. A.N. Howard east of town. He has two brothers living, one, Ed, at Oswego, Kansas, and the other, Samuel of Wichita. He united with the Methodist Church in early manhood. He used to work at the carpenter trade around here, but had not been able to work for a long while, and the end came as a relief from his long sickness on a week ago yesterday, at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. George Smisor [sic].
