SPENCER — Funeral services for Timothy Gilbert Sawyer, 19, Webb and formerly of Estherville, were held Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. He died Sunday at Huntsville, Ala., as a result of injuries sustained in a car-motorcycle crash. The Rev. Michael Last of Spencer and the Rev. Fred Sawyer of Estherville officiated. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Ringsted.
Mr. Sawyer was born March 20, 1957 in Estherville to Verle and Priscilla Nelson Sawyer. He moved with his parents to Estherville at an early age, where he completed his elementary education. He graduated from South Clay High School at Gillett Grove in 1975, and entered the United States Army and was assigned to the Red Stone Arsenal at Huntsville, Ala. At the time of his death, he was undergoing advanced individual training. He was first assigned to Fort Carson, Colo.
Survivors include one brother, Scott Sawyer of Littleton, Colo.; one sister, Mrs. Jacquelyn Zweifel, Sutherland; one grandmother, Mrs. Ruth Lungren, Estherville; and one grandfather, Gilbert Nelson, Estherville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
