Bertha Magdalene Deardorff, 93, daughter of Joseph & Marie (Beschorner) Bose, was born May 8, 1915, on a farm southeast of Yale. She passed away Friday, March 13, 2009, at the New Homestead in Guthrie Center.

Bertha graduated from Yale High School in 1933 , and married Nyal Deardorff on December 25, 1937, in Bayard. They farmed together until moving to Yale in 1975. Bertha liked to crochet, sew, cook, traveling, music, square dancing, and selling Avon. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Panora, the Altar & Rosary Society, and the Yale Women's Club.

She is survived by her sons; Dan & wife La Rayne Deardorff of Yale and Kevin & wife Donna Deardorff of Ames. Daughters; Judi & husband Marvin Smith of Yale and Karen & husband Tom Lupardus of Dallas Center. Ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Nyal, infant son Nyal, Jr., two sisters, and four brothers.
