Theda Earline Crispin, 80, of Aztec passed away Monday, July 4, 2005, at her home. Theda was born Aug. 16, 1924, in Little River, Kan., to Fred Louis Crandall and Nancy Attie Jane Cooter.
On April 27, 1944, Charles D. Crispin and Theda Crandall were married and together they raised seven children.
Theda was always a dedicated wife and mother. She loved being involved in different organizations and her church. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Aztec, the VFW Auxiliary, American Legion, Moca, 31 Card Club, Old Farts Club and the San Juan Trail Riders. Theda was the first woman to work as a tour guide at the Grand Canyon. She loved driving school buses for the Aztec school system and was voted Mom on the Road by her students.
Theda was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Crispin; parents, Fred and Nancy Crandall; one sister, Elaine Wilkinson; brothers, Jim, Gerald, Wilbur, William and Larry Crandall.
Surviving Theda are her children, Howard Crispin and wife, Beverly, of Farmington, Harold Crispin and wife, Chris, of Aztec, Charles Crispin III and wife, Pam, of Farmington, Linda Senear of Aztec, Noreen Crispin of Aztec, Wendy Hays of Aztec, P.J. Plummer of Alaska, and Jeannie Izzo and husband, Tom, of Las Cruces; her best friend and companion, Robert Santistevan of Aztec; sister, Frances Otto and husband, Karl, of Lyons, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
A public viewing for Theda will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, Thursday, July 7, at Cope Memorial Chapel of Aztec. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 8, at First United Methodist Church in Aztec. The Rev. Kathleen Potter will officiate. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Farmington.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Sanchez, Kirk Westbrook, Charles Smith, Charles Brown, Jack Stant and John Franklin.
Honorary Pallbearers are William Crispin, Chase Crispin, Tomas Sanchez and all members of the organizations mentioned above of which Theda was a member.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
