Thomas Betz, one of the popular young men of Canton, and a trusted and confidential employe of the Miller Hardware company, died Tuesday morning at 6 o'clock at his home, No. 806 West Fourth street, aged 37 years. The news of his death spread about the streets like wild-fire, Tuesday morning, and as the blow was an unexpected one, the shock to the community was great. He was respected and looked up to as a man of noble character. He was popular among the young people, having lived in Canton since his birth. By his own efforts he won for himself the general respect which he enjoyed, and made for himself a host of friend, who, with the family, mourn his death. For some time he had been the bookkeeper for the Miller Hardware company, going to that place from the Nye manufacturing company, with which he had held a responsible position..
He was an active member of the German Reformed church, and in religious circles, who also looked up to and respected. For nearly three years he had been afflicted, but, through strenuous effects to keep up, he was enabled to continue the performance of his at the office of the firm for which he labored, until ten days ago, when he became confined to the house. The funeral arrangements have not yet been arranged
