Ronald E. Baker, age 67, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013. Born in Fayetteville NC on March 17, 1946, he was the son of the late John Baker and Ruth Benton Baker. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Francis Tew and Sylvia Bain and brother, Johnny Baker.
Ronnie retired from Sprint after 41 years of service. A true family man, he enjoyed spending time with his precious grandchildren and with his two sons playing a round of golf. Ronnie had a working man's heart and a faithful spirit. As a member of Northside Community Church, he gave his time willingly for church activities. He will be truly missed.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Ramona Baker; sons, Tim Baker and wife Sonnara and Rodney Baker, both of Roanoke Rapids; five grandchildren, Ashley Hagwood, Samantha Baker, Megan Baker, Joshua Baker and Nicholas Baker; sisters, Barbara Matthews of Erwin and Sandra Napier of Wade; brothers, Eugene Baker and Tommy Baker, both of Fayetteville; and mother and father-in-law, Virginia and Al Devore.
The family will receive friends and relatives 7:00pm to 8:30pm Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A service to remember Ronnie will be held 10:00am Monday morning in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mark Pridgen officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
