He married Sarah McGee in the year 1869 and they were the parents of Mary Eva Carroll(1871-1952); "Hattie" May Marsh Moon (1874-1939); "Josie" Stillwell (1877- ); Thomas Lawrence Cox (1879-1925); Frank J. Cox (1882- ); Infant Cox ( ). Sylvester owned land in Tipton County where he lived.
