Janice Dever Tyree, 77, of Cross Lanes, passed away June 20, at Hospice Hubbard House West after an extended illness, surrounded by her family.
Janice was born July 4, 1940 in Lory, to the late Johnnie and Kyrene Hill. After graduating from Scott High School and Charleston Business School, she worked in Charleston until she married Jerry Dever and together they had two sons and raised them in Maryland then South Charleston until Jerry’s death.
She was a longtime member of Dunbar Mountain Mission Church where she met and married Richard Tyree in 2003. One of Janet’s favorite hymns says “Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well, with my soul.”
Left to honor her memory is her beloved husband, Richard Tyree; sons, Mark Dever (Debbie), of Saint Albans, Mike Dever (Heather), of Phoenix, Arizona; sisters, Linda Payne (Mickey) and Jonnie Duty (Bob); sister-in-law, Brenda Lane; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Hubbard Hospice House West, for their attentiveness and loving care of Janice.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24 at Dunbar Mountain Mission. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
