Ruth Morrell, daughter of the late Robert Edgar Carrithers and Elsie Robertson Carrithers was born on April 19, 1919 in Iuka, Mississippi and departed this life on June 26, 2013 at the University Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa at the age of 94 years.

Mrs. Morrell was of the Baptist Faith, and was extremely instrumental in developing Midwest Video Television Cooptation throughout the West and Midwest region with her late husband. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years and board member of Girl Scouts Cotton Boll Area Council. Ruth was also a member of the Puicah Club in Puxico, Missouri and a resident of Dudley, Missouri.

On June 18, 1945 she was united in marriage to George Robert Morrell in Dudley, Missouri. Mr. Morrell preceded her in death on March 15, 1983.

Survivors include one daughter, Evelyn Ruth "Evie" Degenhardt and husband Richard of Muscatine, Iowa; two grandchildren, Cara Jacobs of St. Charles, Missouri and Richard Degenhardt III of Iowa City, Iowa.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday July 1, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday July 2, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with Rev. Steve Bender officiating. Interment will follow in the Hobbs Chapel Cemetery in rural Puxico, Missouri.
