According to "History of Two McNeil Families in North Carolina Related by Marriage but Not by Birth" as dictated by Cyrus McNeil in 1900, transcribed by J.F. Edgerton Alexander McMillan "requested to be buried in this cemetery to be near his relatives who had died many years before." Alexander married Elizabeth McNeil. Their children were: Catherine Jane m. William McNatt, Ruth Ann m. William H. Fisher, Mary Elizabeth m. William Joseph Regan, Sarah Ellen m. Dr. John Duncan McMillan, Margaret Torrey McMillan m. Hector T. McKinnon, & son Neil McMillan.

Alexander's father was Archibald McMillan (1758-1823),immigrant who sailed with his family on ship Ulysses from Greenock, Scotland & arrived in Wilmington, NC in Aug. 1774. Members of Arch' family were his father Malcom, age 58,his mother Catherine McAllister age 58, brothers John age 26 m. Margaret McNeil, Daniel age 24, Arch age 16 (the father of Alexander), & Gilbert age 8. Archibald left a will dated Sept 6, 1823, Robeson Co,NC.& referred to his wife, Mary. They had 9 children: Malcom, Dugald, John m. Catherine McKenzie & was the father of Nancy McMillan Musselwhite. He died about 1822 in Robeson Co, Neil died about 1835 in Robeson Co, NC (will dated Mar 25, 1835 Robeson Co, NC), Daniel never married & died in Attala Co, Ms about 1881. Nancy married Arch Crawford & died about 1823, Robeson Co, NC, left a son named John Crawford. Mary never married, died & left a will dated May 18,1853, Robeson Co,NC. Catherine married John Biggs & died in Attala Co, Ms in 1846.
