Son of Alexander Owen Donason Jr. and Anna Marie (Barbero) Donason. Nathan was born in Maquon, where the Foster Garage now stands. He resided in Maquon township until he became a young man, when he drove a covered wagon to Aurora, Nebraska, and from there a few weeks later, drove through Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and 600 miles into Old Mexico, where his outfit was attacked by bandits and he said himself he was glad to be able to escape alive.
He finally made his way back into Texas and followed the occupation of driving a stage coach for a few years. From there he returned to Maquon where he had always resided with the exception of three or four years spent in South Dakota on a farm drawn from an Indian reservation.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Martha (Mattie) McCord, 6 Mar 1935, and by the following brothers and sisters: Jack Donason of Mills, Nebraska, Charles of Spokane, Washington, Fred Donason of Galesburg, and Kate Donason, who died in childhood. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Calista Herring of Phoenix, Arizona, and one brother, Frank Donason of Rushville.
In the latter years of his life, he followed the occupation of farming on a large farm at the edge of Maquon, in partnership with C C Craig of Galesburg.
He was always willing to help those in real distress and will be missed by his many friends.
