Marjory Elizabeth Hayford was born September 6, 1917 at Red Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Philip and Darlene (Hydeman) Gotobed. She received her education at Kearney High School and Kearney State Teachers College.
Marjory taught elementary school in Bremerton, Washington; Vallejo, Cal., and later in Buda, Ogallala, Brule, and Big Springs in Nebraska.
On August 4, 1940 Marjory married Norman Hayford at Kearney, Nebr. The couple was married fifty-one years and resided in Ogallala. She was a member of the Ogallala First Congregational Church for fifty years. Later, Marjory was a member of the Methodist Churches of Kearney and Ogallala. She was a member of the PEO and the Retired Teachers of America.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Norman Hayford, son Kent Hayford, brother Kenneth Gotobed, and daughter-in-law Barb Hayford,
Survivors include her son Philip and his wife Sandy Hayford of St. Petersburg, Flo., daughter-in-law Gail Hayford of Ogallala, and sister-in-law Ilene Gotobed of Littleton, Colo. Also seven grandchildren: Keith Hayford, Kyle Hayford, Kelvin Hayford, Kendall Hayford, Gina Sharp, Brett Hayford, and Mindy Artze; and ten great-grandchildren.
The Funeral Service will be Friday, June 28, at 2 p.m. in Draucker Funeral Home. Rev. Chuck Rager of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment is in the Ogallala Cemetery. Draucker Funeral Home of Ogallala is in charge of arrangments.
