Richard Lee King Vallance 57, passed away Friday, May 29th, 2009, in Prescott, Arizona.

Graveside services with full military honors will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 9th, 2009, in Elmwood Memorial Park with Gary Williams officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory, Abilene. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 8th, 2009, at the funeral home.

Richard was born June 12, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1970 to 1977. His duty stations included Anderson A.F.B. in Guam, Sheppard A.F.B. in Wichita Falls, Texas, Kirtland A.F.B. in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Dyess A.F.B. in Abilene, Texas. Up until his passing, Richard was a traveling Secret Shopper, nationwide for Hopper and Hawkins. He also worked for the Water Department for the City of Abilene. His true passion though was music. Richard was a very talented drummer. His musical career began as a member of the Cooper Cougar Band in Abilene, Texas. For many years after high school, he played country music with numerous bands, but for most of those years, he played in a band with his father, Wesley King.

Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy King and his sister, Peggy King.

Survivors include his father, Wesley King of Hondo, Texas; son, Richard Lee King, II; daughters, Tammy Lynn Adams and son-in-law, Norman Adams, and Kimberly Ann Peck and son-in-law, Billy Peck, all of Abilene, Texas; grandsons, Cameron King and Brett Peck; granddaughter, Kelsey Peck, also all of Abilene, Texas; brothers, George King and sister-in-law, Stella King, and Wesley King, Jr., both of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Patricia King and Cynthia Calonge and brother-in-law, Frank Calonge, all of San Antonio, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
