Dale was a twin so he was 7th or 8th of the nine children born to William Southard (1891-1978) and Flossie Maize Hite (1893-1968). His parents moved from Dallas County, Missiouri around 1916 and the twins were born in Roberts County, Texas.

Dale married Yoby Angaline Holly (1936-2011), the daughter of Guy Ivy Holly (1912-2005) and Molly Bernice Hamrick (1915-1974), on November 22, 1952 in Pampa, Texas. Of thier six children, Larry Dale, was the only one to survive childhood.

Dale Southard, 81, of Amarillo died on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012. Private family services will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Southard was born May 10, 1930, in Miami to William and Flossie Southard.

Dale owned D&M Electric in Tulia and was a hard-working man who was very proud of his business. He loved the outdoors and was a member of motorcycle and water-skiing clubs. Dale won several water-skiing competitions. He loved spending time with his children and his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, and a son, Terry. Survivors include six children, Sherry Armstrong, Kari Taylor and Llari Taylor Schneider and husband Dale, all of Prosper, Gary Taylor and wife Patti of Yukon, Okla., Mary Lee and husband David of Amarillo and Larry Southard of Hawaii; 10 grandchildren, Nicole Spoor, Meaghan Wilterding, Tyler Wilterding, Kristen Taylor, Morgan Taylor, Zach Taylor, Cheyenne Taylor, Ryan Feeback, Jacob Lee and Caleb Lee; and three great-grandchildren.
