Iver Knute Bakken was born in Hallingdal, Norway. When nine weeks old he emigrated with his parents to Clayton Co., IA where they lived for 2 years. From there the family moved to Worth Co., IA where Mr. Bakken lived with his parents until the summer of 1880, when he came to Mayville, ND. He then moved to Northwood until 1882, then homesteaded on a farm in Westfield Twp, Steele Co., ND.
