Kenneth V. Curtis March 4, 1924 ~ June 9, 2013 Murray, UT-Kenneth V. Curtis, passed away Sunday June 9, 2013 of natural causes.

Born March 4, 1924 in Orangeville, Emery County, Utah to John Solomon Curtis and Mary Jane Elisabeth Allred. Married his beloved Ruby Willson on August 23, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Served with distinction with the Salt Lake City Fire Department, where he rose to the rank of Assistant Chief, combat division, he was appointed Deputy Chief, before his retirement in June 1983. He was known and fondly referred to by his fire department family as "Curly". Ken graduated from Jordan High School, Sandy Utah in 1942, attended college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, California and the University of Utah. Served during World War II in the US Navy and was assigned to Naval Aviation Squadron VPB116, where he flew missions in the South Pacific theater as a combat navigator/radio man, and gunner. He was a member of the LDS Church. He was active and independent right up to the time of his death. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. His favorite pastimes were bowling , golfing and amateur astronomy.

Ken is survived by his son, Byron T. Curtis (Georgia), daughter Valin D. Miranker (Daniel) daughter in law Sally Curtis, brother Uriah (Sharon), and sister Iris Malmstrom (Norman). Grandchildren, Darryl and Bradley Curtis (Holly), Kai Cee Goodwin (Dallas), Creekston and Bridger Curtis, and Emmett and Calder Miranker. Great grandchildren, Victoria and Mark McCarron, Jack, Andy and Charlie Lopez, and Anniston Curtis. Preceded in death by his wife Ruby, son Allen L. Curtis, grandson Tracy, parents, brothers Alma, Nephi, Irwin, Legrand, Norman and Ivan. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

A viewing will be held Thursday June 13, 2013 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services with be Friday June 14, 2013 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 2:00 p.m. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at Murray City Cemetery.
