Born in Macomb, NY. One of seven children of Daniel and Ada Washburn Mullin. She was raised on a farm but left it behind after graduating from Gouverneur High School at the age of 16. She spent time in Cleveland Ohio (including the year the Indians went to the World Series), and then attended Syracuse University, where she met Joseph Cady, who she married in 1956. They moved to San Diego, where eldest daughter Kelley was born, then back to Syracuse where their second daughter, Anne, was born. Then after a few years in Florida, they relocated to the Washington DC area, where Fran got her Master's degree in Accounting at the American University and became a CPA. She held high ranking positions with a number of companies including the American Public Health Association, INSLAW, and the Urban Land Institute, before retiring and moving with her husband to Colorado. She enjoys reading, being active, and traveling. She volunteered when possible, including assisting people with their tax returns, helping out in the office at the local hospital, delivering meals for meals-on-wheels, and volunteering at her church. She enjoyed taking classes at the University in Fort Collins, and was always actively wanting to learn about new topics, especially relating to world affairs. She spent 7 years being a care-giver to her husband after he suffered complications during valve replacement surgery. It was a trying time but she never gave up on him and her devotion to him was inspirational.
She is my mother and she is still alive and is an inspiration to me. Someday we will all be buried together by my father in Weedsport, where we already have our markers in place.
