John Add Benson, 71, of Bastrop, LA died Monday, March 28, 2005, at The Terrace in Bastrop. A native of Guthrie, LA, he was born September 16, 1933, to Paul Maxwell Benson Sr. and Rita Marie Tugwell Benson. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, a 32nd degree Mason and a retired deputy city marshal.
Survivors include three daughters, Denise Benson Benefield and husband Tom of Collierville, TN, and Marisa Dru Benson of Bastrop and Paula Kay Benson Hendrix and husband Mitch of Starkville, MS; one son, John A. Benson II and wife Krista of Bastrop; two brothers, Paul Maxwell Benson Jr. of Mer Rouge, LA, and Buford Dent Benson of Bastrop; one daughter-in-law, Linda Benson of Bastrop; two granddaughters, Brandy Lynn Blackman Whitthoff of Syracuse, NY, and Krista Anne Carter of Bastrop; and one grandson, John Clayton Benson of Bastrop.
Grave side services were held Thursday, March 31, at 10 a.m. at Wilmot Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Pallbearers were Tom Benefield, Mitch Hendrix, Jerry Freeland, Jerald Freeland, Steve Freeland and Johnnie Murphree.
