Clayton Lowder Sr., 84, died Monday, April 26, 1999, at Tuomey Regional Healthcare Systems. Born in Clarendon County, Sept. 9, 1914, he was a son of the late Thomas Junious and Alice Tindal Lowder . He was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church of Sumter. He was self-employed as a well known farmer and businessman which included a cotton gin, a farm supply business, and a grocery store. He was captain of his football team his senior year at Edmunds High School.
