Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Bishop Jordan, 96, of Ashland, Al were held Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Clay County Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Willis officiating. Burial followed in Ashland City Cemetery.
Mrs. Jordan was born November 30, 1914 in Clay County to Milford and Minnie Shaddix Bishop. She passed away November 3, 2011 at Clay County Hospital.
She graduated high school at Lincoln High School in 1933. From there she attended Jacksonville Teaching College (now Jacksonville State University) and then graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) in 1938.
They moved back to Ashland in 1963 and she started teaching at Ashland Elementary School where she taught until her retirement in 1976.
Mrs. Jordan belonged to several ladies clubs and was a member of First Baptist Church of Ashland.
