Galen E. Steen, age 82, of Dorchester passed away Monday, february 04, 2013 at Golden Living Center, Abbotsford. A funeral service will be 11:00 AM held Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. Rev. Mark Neumann will officiate. Burial will follow the service at the Abbotsford Public Cemetery.
Galen was born July 15, 1930 to Henry and Amanda (Dassow) Steen in the Town of Chelsea. Galen was joined in marriage to Dorothy Hoffeditz on August 6, 1949 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Medford. He worked as a truck driver; Galen hauled milk and later drove gravel truck. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing.
Galen is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy, his sons: Calvin Steen of Dorchester and Darrell (Cindy) Steen of Dorchester; his daughter, Cheryl Steen of Poynette, WI, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Galen is further survived by his brothers and sisters: Ray (Jean) Steen of Colby, Phyllis (Don) Brunner of Medford, Bonnie Leach of Kenosha, Roger (Barbara) Steen of Westboro; and his brother-in-law, Lanny Zimmerlee.
Galen is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Myron Steen in infancy, his granddaughters, Stacy and Stephanie Steen in infancy, his daughter-in-law, Barbara Steen, his sister, Shelby Zimmerlee, and his brother-in-law, Ervin Leach.
