Marjorie May Bath, 96, died Tuesday (April 29, 2014) at the St. Luke Living Center in Marion, Ks. She was born December 23, 1917, near Tampa, Kansas on the family farm, to Henry and Lena (Niemeier) Abeldt. After graduating from Hope High School in 1935, she went on to graduate from Business College in 1937.After marrying her husband, Herman A. Bath in 1939, she served as secretary and bookkeeper at several institutions. She volunteered with the Girl Scouts, photography and gardening clubs, and various groups of the Presbyterian Church. For a number of years she served as treasurer and volunteer at the Newton Medical Center gift shop.Marjorie was preceded in death by her Father and Mother, her husband, brother Lowell K. Abeldt, sister Elfie Abeldt and infant daughter, Sharon Bath.She is survived by her son, Lowell H. Bath of Sebring, FL, daughter, Mary Ann Peck of Merriam, KS, grandsons Lowell P. Bath of Miami, FL, Christopher Bath of Jacksonville, FL, Jon Peck of Merriam, KS, and granddaughter, Amy Peck Coleman of Piper, KS plus six great grandchildren.Graveside services and interment will be at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, May 2, 2014 in the Abilene Cemetery.Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday 1pm til 8pm, where the family will receive friends between 7 and 8.A memorial has been established with the building and grounds fund of the Newton First Presbyterian Church and the Botanical Gardens in Wichita, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.Arrangements are by Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton.
