She was born Nov. 1, 1908, in Tyler County, a daughter of the late George and Loraine Heslep Smith. She was a member of the Dewey Avenue Church of Christ, had worked at the Paden City Pottery, and she enjoyed flowers, crocheting, crossword puzzles and game shows.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Nichols and her husband, Larry of Westerville, Ohio; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William ‘‘Bun'' Higgins; and several brothers and sisters.
Services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday at the Ruttencutter-Ingram Funeral Home of St. Marys, with Evangelist Dan Kessinger officiating. Burial will be in the St. Marys IOOF Cemetery. Calling hours are from noon-3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home
