Isabella was the daughter of John Campbell and Mary Carr of Trenton, old Hunterdon (now Mercer) Co., NJ. She was presumably born in Trenton, probably about 1788-92 based on her children's birth years. She married David Montgomery by 1811 (as his second wife). In 1818, they and Isabella's siblings and their spouses, deeded a 1/4-acre lot in Trenton, being their mother's share of their grandfather Alexander Carr's property, to Lucia Waddell.

David and Isabella had 7 children known from baptismal and gravestone records from the Third (Old Pine Street) Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, city death/burial records, and other sources:

1. Robert C. (b. 10 Dec. 1811)
2. Esther (b. 8 Sep. 1813)
3. William (b. 8 Mar 1815)
4. Richard M. (b. 30 Aug. 1819)
5. Alexander (b. 27 Mar. 1821)
6. Charles (b. 27 Apr. 1822)
7. Adelia Crowley (b. 29 Dec. 1824)

Three are linked below. The other four are untraced.

Note that Isabella was probably in her thirties when her husband died, so it is possible that she remarried. She had not done so by 1 Mar. 1828, however, when she gave a declaration for her 16-year-old son Robert C. Montgomery's Seaman's Protection Certificate in Philadelphia.
