John Henry JONES was one of the original settlers of Texas, immigrating from Tennessee in 1829. He and Martha Jane WOOTTEN were married in the historic community of Boonville, in present day Brazos County, Texas on 24 Jun 1832.

Medora was Gibeon Augustus FOSTER's mother. Two of Medora's younger sisters were married to Gibeon Ainsworth "Gib" FOSTER who was one of Gibeon Augustus FOSTER's father's brothers, thus one of Gibeon Augustus FOSTER's uncles. The first of Medora's sisters who was married to Gib FOSTER was Eliza A. JONES.

After Eliza's death on 14 Aug 1870, Medora's next younger sister, Martha Ann JONES (1847-1934) was married to Gib" FOSTER on 15 Dec 1873.

Thus, two of Gibeon Augustus FOSTER's aunts, Eliza and Martha (his mother's sisters) were married to his uncle Gib (his father's brother).

At the end of the first paragraph in Medora JONES' obituary, shown at the upper right, it was reported that after Medora's death, there was only one member of the old pioneer JONES family still alive, a sister, Mrs. Gib FOSTER of Bryan.

Mrs. Gib FOSTER (Martha Ann JONES) died three years and 8 days later, on 21 Feb 1934.
