War of 1812 - Pvt. Francis B. Ackley
According to his claim for pension/bounty land, he served during the War of 1812, as a private under Captain James Brooks Company in the 1st New York Militia, from Dec 24, 1813 to Apr 2, 1814.
He was drafted as a substitute for another man, for service term of 3-months, shortly after the burning of Buffalo, New York, where he helped bury the dead.
At the time of his entry into the War, he was a resident of Ovid, Seneca County, New York. He was released from duty at Eleven Mile Creek, at Williamsville, near Buffalo, on March 20, 1814, and formally discharged, honorably from service, on April 2, 1814.

1st Wife: Elizabeth Showers (1799-1852)
After the death of his first wife, Elizabeth (Showers) Ackley in 1852, he married Emily (Wood) Terry, the widow of Horace G Terry. Emily is buried alongside her 1st husband Horace Geer Terry, in the Alton Cemetery in Wayne County, New York (see: Find A Grave Memorial# 84664652)
