Susannah Hollingsworth's first marriage was to James Newberry in Cumberland County, NC. James was b. 23 Jan. 1770.

James Newberry, Sr. d. July 1793. Administrator of James NEWBERRY deceased granted to Susannah Newberry, Samuel HOLLINGSWORTH and John NEWBERRY.

James Newberry, Jr. was born December 1793 in Cumberland Co. NC. January 1799: Samuel HOLLINGSWORTH and Andrew BRENNAN removed as guardians to James NEWBERRY. Isaac NEWBERRY appointed in their place.

January 1801: Ordered that the guardian of James NEWBERRY pay to Andrew BRANNING 12 pds. per annum for clothing and support of said James, an Orphan, from the date of settlement by the adm. with the Court up to this date and that he also pay him 6 pds. per annum for support of a Negro child of said James' for the time he has maintained same.

August 1803: Joseph Thames, Esq. guardian to James KIRKPATRICK and James NEWBERRY, both have till next Court to settle account.

April 1805: June 1806:...December 1807.. Committed to audit accounts of Joseph THAMES, guardian of James NEWBERRY.

June 1812: The estate of Jessee NEWBERRY(deceased) was divided between his son Benjamin NEWBERRY and James NEWBERRY Jr. as James NEWBERRY Sr. was deceased. As set forth in the Will.

James NEWBERRY Jr. (Son of Susannah Hollingsworth NEWBERRY BRANNING) married Lucy THAMES c. 1812 in Cumberland NC. He died in Monroe County, Alabama c. 1855.

Susannah (Andrew's Widow) married Isaac Varn, Sr. 12 June 1830 at Black Creek (Middleburg), Duval Co., Florida (Geary's Ferry, Duval District, Florida Territory). He was b. 1780 North Orangeburg District, Barnwell, South Carolina; d. May 20, 1857 in Black Creek District, Duval County, Florida. They both were widowers. He had 8 children from his first wife; Susannah helped raise his younger children.

There were no children from this marriage.
