She was born to Strother and Linda Pitts Lewis May 20, 1925 in Bowling Green, VA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Dyson, Sr., and her sisters, Catherine "Kitty" Broaddus, Ella "Polly" Frazier and Virginia Beasley.
For 68 years, alongside her family and numerous members of the Dawn community, she owned and operated Dyson's General Store where she became a friend and mentor to all she encountered. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Hanover Ruritan Club, the Doswell Women's Club, the Hanover Christmas Mother, and Concord Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. Her faith in God carried her through her 91 years of life.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, James A. Dyson, Jr. (Linda); daughter, Jacquelyn Dyson Lazzuri (Caesar); four grandchildren, Jeff Lazzuri (Lisa), Heather Dyson, Jennifer Lazzuri Dockum, and Amanda Dyson; 8 great-grandchildren, Allison, Anna, Abbey, and Alex Dockum, Wyatt Dyson, Peyton, Paige, and Piper Lazzuri; loving brother, Strother William "Ted" Lewis (Margaret); sister, Hannah Lewis Chance; sister-in-law, Lorraine Carlton (Harvey); devoted daughter-in-law, Fredricka Dyson and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11 am at Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory - Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA 23005.
