Mary Elizabeth Weeks Cassidy Schwieger

Mary Elizabeth Weeks Cassidy Schwieger, 88, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2004 in Auburn Hills, Michigan. She was born in Clifton Forge, Virginia on March 19, 1916 to Charles Preston Weeks and Jessarine Miller Beatty Weeks. Mary moved to Yuma with her family in 1930 and made it her home. She graduated from Yuma High School and retired as Branch Manager from Transamerica Title Company after 35 years of service. Mary had a passion for life as shown by her love of travel, and her interest in collecting, be it bells, yarn, cups, and saucers, or friends. Her family and friends were intensely important to her and she maintained close contact with them no matter where they lived. Mary’s feisty nature will be forever remembered and cause us to smile when we think of her. She was a member of the American Bell Association, the Zonta Club, and Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church. Mary was survived by her brother, Harry “Bill” Weeks, of Yuma; sons, Donald (Patricia) Cassidy, of Michigan, and Michael (Shirley) Cassidy, of Connecticut; step-sons, Robert (Jessica) Schwieger, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Dan Schwieger, of New York; sister-in-law, Dottie Weeks; grandsons, Sean Cassidy, of Chicago, Illinois, Bryan Cassidy, of Plano, Texas, James Cassidy, of Lubbock, Texas, Robert, Clark, and Scott Schwieger, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Dan Schwieger II, of New York; granddaughter, Denise Schwieger, of New York; and great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Emma Cassidy, of Chicago, Illinois. She also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends throughout the world. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Charles “Lad” Weeks and Curtis “Baldy” Weeks; sister, Annette Weeks Sutton; and husbands, Jesse Clifford Cassidy and August Theodore Schwieger. Visitation will be held at Johnson Mortuary on Monday, August 30, 2004, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with funeral services on Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at 10 a.m. Final resting place to be Desert Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Heart Association are requested.
